We are a group of arts and culture organizations, artists, and community members who are collectively advocating for equity in funding of the arts for all Portlanders.
PACE is doing the following:
Advocating for increased arts funding that prioritizes equity, arts programs for all Portlanders, and strong support of small-to-mid-sized organizations. Increasingly, we are connecting with orgs that should be receiving funding from the Office of Arts and Culture, not just those who have before. There are so many and only 80 receive Portland GOS funding, the money primarily goes to 5 orgs.
Advocating through direct government contacts, media, and other channels to restore equity as a core component of funding tiers within the Office of Arts and Culture, regardless of overall budget constraints on total funding.
Working to ensure the Office of Arts and Culture does not seek to new funding sources without agreed-upon criteria or transparent tiers.—such as private or governmental funds being channeled through the city instead of directly to organizations.
Group decisions are made collectively by the cohort of chairs unless new circumstances require broader input or a larger voting process.
